Ambassador's Club Constitution
Preamble
We the Ambassadors of Garden Grove High School do establish this
constitution to direct our actions and procedures as a body of
self-governing students.
Article I: Name
The official name of the student organization of GGHS is the Ambassador
Club. Students in this club shall be referred to in this document as
Ambassador.
Article II: Purpose of Goals
The purpose of the Ambassador Club is to:
A. Engender of a deeper appreciation and respect for fellow members of our
community.
B. Promote personal pride and leadership of GGHS.
C. Encourage intellectual, physical, emotional, and social development.
Article III: Membership
Section I: Active Membership
All students shall be active members of the Ambassador Club upon payment of
dues and adherence to the regulation set forth in this constitution.
Section II: Designated Advisor
The Advisor shall consist of one of the persons on the faculty of GGHS who
have expressed desire to make a substantial contribution to the advancement
of the purpose of the Ambassador Club and have been recognized as such by
the club council. They shall be a source of guidance and advice to the
Ambassadors. As of 2004, the advisor is Kevin Griffin, Chairman of the
English Department.
Section III: Good standing
All members shall be considered members in good standing if they attend
meetings and remain active within the club.
Article IV: The Ambassador Council
Section I: Organization and Standing
All Members on the council whom are appointed or elected shall be referred
to as Ambassador Council Officers. The Council shall be divided into eight
positions.
Section II: Duties of the Officers
A. President
The President shall be the executive head and chief spokesperson of the
Ambassador Council. The President will also hold the responsibility of
selecting, training, and supervising the performance of the Council and
recommending job probation and termination when necessary. He/she shall
conduct all meetings of the Council and shall be responsible for the
moderation of all special functions. The power to call special meetings of
the Council will also rest with the President. He/she shall perform other
duties, when necessary.
B. Vice President
The Vice president of Senate shall assist the President in all his/her
duties and assume them in the President's absence. He/she shall conduct all
meetings with the absence of the President. The Vice President will also be
responsible for selection, training, performance, and actions of the members
and council officials as well. He/she will perform all other duties assigned
to him/her by the President. The Vice President reports to the President and
meets with him on a regular basis as determined by the President.
C. Directions of Special Projects
The Directors of the Special Projects shall plan, coordinate, and execute
special community service and service learning activities and events for
Ambassador at GGHS. He/she shall appoint, train, supervise, and evaluate
committee members and communicate between them and the Council. The
Directors will oversee all financial expenditures (working closely with the
Director of Finance), legal implications (administration), and other
circumstances related to the committee's events. The Director will meet with
the committee and the Council on weekly basis. The Director must show a
strong desire to serve this position in order to be appointed.
D. Director of Public Relations (Publicity)
The Director of Public Relations will serve as a communicative link between
students, staff, and community organizations. He/she will be responsible for
communicated Council news to students at GGHS and be responsible for
announcing weekly and urgent meetings. He/she shall perform all duties
assigned to him/her by the President or Vice President. As a member of the
Executive Council, the Director of Public Relations reports the
President and meets with him/her on a regular basis as determined by the
President.
E. Director of Finance (Treasurer)
The Director of Finance shall be responsible for collecting and dispensing
all of the Ambassador Club funds in accordance with the decisions of the
Council. The Director of Finance keeps accounts, deposits the organizations
funds, and makes expenditures in a manner approved by the Business Office
for Student Organizations. He/she shall maintain accurate and complete
records of financial transactions and make them available upon request of
the Council. In addition, he/she shall perform all duties assigned to
him/her by the President.
F. Head of Archives (Historian)
The Head of Archives will maintain the history of Ambassador Club through
means of photographs, text, or by an electronic device. He/she shall be
responsible for the management of Ambassador website and shall be
responsible for attending all events and remaining alert on all
Ambassador-related news. He/she must work closely with the council to
collect needed information for the Archives.
G. Secretary of Council
The Secretary of Council shall be in charged of contacting all Ambassadors
through phone calls, emails, and face-to-face about upcoming events and
meetings. In addition, he/she shall record attendance of members of meetings
and may be asked to provide an agenda. He/she shall perform all duties
assigned to him/her by the Council.
H. ICC Representative
The ICC Representative is in charge of attending all ICC meetings held by
the ASB ICC Commissioner. The representative is expected to update the club
on important upcoming events as well as reporting to the ASB commissioner
about changes in the club. He/she MUST respond to the President immediately
after each meeting and MUST stay alert for the next meeting.
Article V: Traditional Programs
Section I: Past/Future Programs
The Special Programs branch of the Council will coordinate and administrate
many of the ongoing programs in which the Ambassadors choose to participate,
including, but not limited to:
A. Leadership Forums
B. Academic Forums
C. College/Career Forums
D. Food Fairs/fundraising
E. New students Luncheon/welcome tours
F. Community Service
G. Visitory Guide
H. Open house/campus visit guides or hosts
Article VI: Council Election and Appointment Procedures
Section I: Requirements for Council Officers
A. All Officers must meet the scholastic and disciplinary requirements set
forth by the Council. B. All officers must be active members.
Section II: Terms of Office
All terms of office will be held for a period of one year, after which
consecutive terms may be won by entering the standard election process
thereafter. No elected office will have the power to carry over into another
term without going through the election process. However, the President may
serve only one term of office.
Section III: Impeachment
A Council member may be impeached by a petition bearing fifty percent of the
signatures of the Council or by a two-thirds vote from the officials of the
Council.
Article VII: The Ambassador Dues
Section I: The Dues
Activities and programs of the Ambassador Club will be funded from a fee,
hereafter referred to as dues, assessed from applicants. The dues amount
will be determined by year and necessity.
Article VIII: Superseding Clause
Upon adoption, this Constitution shall supersede all previous Constitutions
and nullify all opposing policies and all procedures there under.
